Atsuhiko Gondai was born in Japan in 1965.
Studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, at the Musik Hochschule in Freiburg (with a DAAD Scholarship).
Attended the composition course in Citt di Castello in Italy.
Researching at IRCAM in Paris (with a grant from the Japanese Government).
Studied composition with Yasuo Sueyoshi, Klaus Huber, Philippe Manoury, Salvatore Sciarrino and organ with Zsigmond Szathmary.
His music has been performed in France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Poland, Switzerland, U.S.A. ───etc.
at the Festival Aktive Musik, Asian Music Festival, Centre George Pompidou in Paris, Festival Extasis in Geneve, Gaudeamus Music Week in Amsterdam, June in Buffalo in New York, Internationaal Orgelfestival in Haarlem, rencontres internationales musique contemporaine in Metz, Tokyo Contemporary Music Festival, Akiyoshidai International Contemporary Music Festival ───etc.
and broadcasted by Radio France, W.D.R(Germany), N.O.S(Holland), Hungarian Radio, N.H.K(Japan), Polish Radio, WBFO(New York) ───etc.
Lives both in Paris and in Tokyo as a freelance composer, and as the producer and artistic director of The Tokyo Music Group of the end of 20th century (MANUFACTURE), he organizes the series of concerts with the contemporary pieces at the Theater“Jean-Jean ”in Tokyo until 2001.
In 1995, he holds the first his private exhibition at The Tokyo Cathedral.
Member of The Japanese Society for Contemporary Music (Japanese section of ISCM) and The Japan Federation of Composers.
Organist of the Catholic Church since 1983.
